Renault Trafic Key Fob Review
The Trafic's strengths include an incrediblely comfortable and car-like experience, along with a great real-world fuel efficiency. This updated 2023 model also comes with a large number of Advanced Driver Assistance Systems.
The steering has nice weighting and responsiveness, and proved easy to operate when participating in the van's "parking gymkhana challenge (yours truly smoked it and won it, in fact). There's also new renault key which, theoretically could deter potential thieves.
Hidden Physical Keys
Modern car key fobs have various useful features such as the ability to start and stop the engine remotely. These functions that are hidden can be useful if you're in a hurry or if you need to get out of the rain. However, a few of these hidden features can also be employed by thieves to break into your vehicle.
The key fob emits radio frequency (RF) that are detected by the receiver in the car. The receiver interprets the signals and determines if the button was pressed to unlock or start up the engine, for example.
When the new key fob is added to the system, it broadcasts its serial number and the current synchronization counter to the receiver in a specific learning mode. The receiver saves the information in memory and exits the learning mode. If the key fob is used in the future, it will then utilize the previously saved decryption key and counter for synchronization to authenticate its signal.
This security measure is effective in preventing the majority of attacks, but it's not 100% secure. A sophisticated attack method called RollJam [17is able to turn this safety provision into an exploit. In order to succeed the attacker must have the future codes sent by the key fob. Once these codes have been obtained, the attacker will be able to perform an attack replay and gain access to the vehicle.
The car is removed from the parking spot
A feature that is very well-liked by people with Renault Trafic is the ability to unlock the hatchback and trunk by pressing the push of a button on their key fob. This is helpful for people with a lot on their hands, like food or party items, and don't wish to have to take everything off just to get the car open.
It's also a good method to stop theft from happening in the first place. A simple pressing of the panic key will frighten off anyone trying to steal your vehicle or break into your home. It will also alert your neighbors. If you are feeling unsafe on the road, pressing the panic button will alert other drivers.
The key fob might be damaged by washing or dropping it. Other causes include a malfunctioning key that has been programmed or an immobilizer malfunction and interference from other wireless devices that transmit at the same frequency as your key fob. In the case of a faulty immobilizer module it is recommended that you visit an authorized mechanic or Renault dealer to address the problem. To reset the module, it may be required to replace the fuse or remove the battery for 15 minutes.
Sunroof Opener
Renault key fobs for the traffic have an opening sunroof mechanism that allows the opening and closing of your car's sunroof. This is crucial for maintaining an ideal temperature while driving in the summer. This feature lets you open the sunroof to let air circulate through the car, which will aid in air circulation during a long driving.
The sunroof can open and closed from the console switch located on the driver's side (left-hand drive) of the hatch area. This will open the sunroof in a comfortable position or approximately 75% open. This is the typical operating position for the majority of automobiles. Touch OPEN for full sunroof operation, and CLOSE to close.
If the sunroof doesn't function properly, it could be that the micro-switch is malfunctioning. The sunroof motor can be operated manually for a brief time to check the current of the motor using an ammeter. The motor's slip clutch torque will be increased by loosening the screws that adjust the motor and then decreased by tightening them. When the slip clutch is correctly adjusted, apply high force Loctite to the lock nut of the adjusting screw.
Another issue that could hinder the sunroof's ability to raise is a misaligned or defective Limit Switch 2. This will cause the lifting arms to retract back to their released position for removal but not raise them to the open position. The sunroof can only be operated on vehicles manufactured after 1985.5. The ignition switch must be set to the Accessory (2) position. The sunroof console switch is then pushed back ("A" direction) to open, then pushed forward ("B" direction) to close.
Parking
The Renault Trafic has a lot to offer that includes a sleek exterior design, and a number of up-to-date features. Cameron from the Lindenvel Group - who was driving the vehicle for the 2023 Renault Trafic launch event in Sydney - found it easy to drive, with quick steering and a great sense of weight. It was easy to park even in the tight 'gymkhana'' where I had to reverse out of a hat-shaped garage to two other garages.
If you see an exclamation point on your dashboard it could be due to the adaptive cruise system indicating that there is a problem. This system uses cameras and radars to observe traffic ahead and adjust your speed accordingly.
A yellow warning light that appears like a car and has swirls underneath indicates that the stability control has kicked in to stop the loss of traction. This is usually followed by an audio alert. It is only allowed to remain in place for a short amount of time before disappearing as the system works to restore the traction. If this remains on for longer you should check the manual or seek expert assistance from a Renault dealer or mechanic as soon as possible.
